TIME TO STICK A FORK IN IT-SORT OF
As everyone knows, Legend Numismatics loves these small intimate PCGS Invitational shows. This last one though suffered from weaker attendance and PCGS was so tight, even if you tried to cross a coin back that had been PCGS -it most likely wasn’t happening. The tight grading is great for the overall coin market. Still who wants to fly across the country and have little returns? It was a rare bad show for us. Even our usually high + and crossover rate was depressingly dismal.
There was nearly zero to buy. The most expensive coin we bought (and $10 1869 PCGS AU55 CAC) is already super sold. Posted it Friday AM, by 2 PM, it has 3 buyers! Wish we could find more coins like that. At least our secret stealth seller was there and grabbed just about everyone and had a very good show with our lesser material (we’d bet 2017 was a record year for him).
Our overall sales for the month will be poor. For as great of year as we had, December will be painful and a “take back” month. We have no specific factor other then a severe lack of coins as to why the poor month. We do feel highly confident (for several reasons) the FUN Show and January will be strong and we’ll see more collectors being aggressive. This years FUN Sale is far better then the last couple and that stimulates activity. We’ve got ourselves in a bit of a burn out phase and today have little to offer. However, that is not how we will start 2018.
LEGEND NUMISMATICS ACQUIRES THE BLUE LAKE COLLECTION OF EARLY COPPER
This 74 piece group of incredible Early Copper pieces came out of the wood work. The majority of these coins have been put away for well over a decade. Several top copper specialists of their day assisted the collector. All coins are PCGS graded. They are all going to CAC right now. There are coins ranging in value from $3,000.00 to several six figure coins-with the majority being rarer and better coins. This collection is significant to ANY size copper specialist. To start, there is not one but TWO Chain Ameri Cents. There is a superb GEM 1806 MS65 BN and the deal ends with a 1C 1857 PCGS MS64BN. The collector who assembled it is actually doing some “house cleaning” (hard to believe). He dislikes auctions and wants us to directly place these coins with collectors. We will be bringing most of these coins to FUN. We do suggest if you want an early shot, send us a Want List. Be aware, the principals of Legend Numismatics are “secret” copper weenies and actually have been dealing in these kinds of coins for years (Legend by far was the biggest buyer of copper in Pogue), we do have a customer base for them. So we expect these coins not to last too long.

Sad to say, this posting of NEWPS is our last for 2017. Since November we simply could not find many coins we like-yet again.
We’ve already got one huge deal in (The Blue Lake Coppers), we’re working on one more deal which should be ready by early next year. That is why (plus the FUN auction) we will not start 2018 off dry!
