$1 1861 PCGS PR66

This is a VERY cool high end coin. Its everything it should be for a PR66! Deep mirrors beam from all over. They have great clarity, cleanliness, and are highly reflective. Both sides are evenly covered by original moderate shades of deep reddish gold/pale forest green/blue/purple colors. The mirrors reflective the colors boldly. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous! Only 1000 were minted but this date is famous for having the majority melted by the Mint due to poor sales. PCGS 3, NGC 7, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only one coin higher. Recently this coin brought $21,150.00 in auction. Prior to that, this coin last sold in 02/2013 for $26,437.00. The prices seem a bit too cheap. Anyway, this coin would make a welcome addition to any PR Seated Dollar, Type, or Civil War era set.
