We love to call really nice AU pieces like this GEM’s. This coin is an totally original SUPERB GEM AU58! It really DOES border full MS. Outstanding surfaces are about as clean and pristine as you will ever hope to see. Even using the strongest glass you find nothing more than a few very trivial scattered microscopic ticks. The surfaces are also satiny in texture. Both sides are evenly covered with a moderate mix of totally original deep pewter/pale blue/pale champagne colors. This is NOT a dull or drab coin. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. There is NO discoloration on the high points. In fact the wear is really hard to find.You can’t top this coins beautiful eye appeal! PCGS 3, NGC 7, CAC 2. PCGS has graded only THREE higher-and we stand by the fact ONLY the MS64 is better than this coin! We do know the other CAC AU58 is in a collection. The last auction sale for any PCGS coin (NON CAC) was back in 07/2008. That coin brought $97,750.00. Once this coin is sold, your chances of finding a GEM or even okay AU-ZERO. Yes, that many have been cleaned or messed with. Plus, these never really came great to begin with.
