Magnificent in both quality and eye appeal! This is not a date known to come fully black and white or really nice looking. Of course when we first this piece, we were in love! Deep and glorious mirrors beam from all over. Thy have great clarity, cleanliness , and bold reflectivity. They look like a freshly formed sheet of fine glass. Superb and totally original shades of dusky gold/pale purple/deep champagne colors evenly blanket both sides. No question Miss Liberty and the details are thickly frosted and have needle sharp strike. The eye eye appeal is really neat! THIS IS A PROOF ONLY DATE: 900 WERE MINTED. PCGS 6, NGC 4, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only 2 higher. We have seen other PR66’s and we can assure you, they do NOT have the life or true reflectivity like this coin does. This coin sold for $10,868.00 in our October 15th Regency Auction in Las Vegas. At that price-we had to own it! Even much commoner dates l(if there is such a thing) like an 1880 sell for $13-$14,000.00 in auction. This 1878 is a prime example of the a market itself putting great coins on sale.
