$225,000.00

Legend Numismatics is proud to outright own and offer one of the greatest MS Large Cents that exists: the S-59 1C 1794 Head 94 Lord St Oswald coin. We admit to always being smitten by these unbelievable Lord St Oswald rarities. Legend has also placed the majority of the Lord St Oswald Silver coins as well. We do consider this piece to be a once in life time opportunity. A coin like this can NOT be over hyped when discussing quality. It really does border one sheer perfection. The surfaces are as pristine as they were 222 years ago the day the coin left the Mint! There is a small reverse stain that we mention for identification. It is NOT a negative in any way. Mixed in among the totally original GEM brown color is subtle hints of Mint Red. Of course Miss Liberty and every detail are sharply struck. The eye appeal is breathtaking! PCGS 4, NGC 0, CAC 5. PCGS has graded 3 MS66+ pieces. We do not know how many others are Lord St Oswald. There are NONE higher. AN MS66RB for the Type sold in the Holmes sale for $253,000.00 04/2013 and is now in major collection. Opportunities to buy coins like this are few. And to buy one with one of the greatest provinces ever-that is a once in a life time coin! It is important to note, this coin has been off the market for decades. The dealer who found the coin  years ago paid $225,000.00 and had kept it for themselves until now. Here is a brief history and pedigree on this coin: William Stickland, a British nobleman, took a tour of the young United States in 1794-95. During the course of his trip, he found himself hobnobbing with the elite in politics and society. He passed through the capital, then situated at Philadelphia, and acquired freshly minted coins which he brought back to his home in England, where they sat in his cabinet. They were passed down in the family, until 1964, when in October Christie, Manson and Wood offered selections of his collection. Among the treasures were 23 choice and GEM examples of 1794 large cents, half dollar, and the famous 1794+1795 silver dollars. His 1794 silver dollar, graded MS66+ by PCGS sold for just short of $5,000,000 in the D. Brent Pogue sale, where Legend Numismatics bought it for a client. Legend Numismatics has always loved the allure of this amazing and historic provenance, where the coins can actually be traced back to time of striking. We are extremely proud to be able to offer this SUPERB Lord St. Oswald large cent.
