$3 1865 PCGS MS64

$35,000.00

One of the “silent stoppers” for the series. We think this should be a $50,000.00 coin-but that’s just our opinion. We certainly have NOT seen any others offered recently.

The ONLY problem we found after careful examination was a small thin scratch at 7:00 in the lower obverse. Unless told about, you do NOT notice it. The rest of the coin has extremely clean and smooth surfaces. Heavy die polishing is evident when using a glass. There are light traces of semi-prooflike mirrors. No spots or stains are visible. The color is a mix of deeper ORIGINAL gold and pale coppery red around the peripheries. This coin definitely has NO putty and does not seem to ever have been messed with. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is wonderful.

ONLY 1140 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 5, NGC 8, CAC 1. This is the only MS example CAC has stickered to date. We do not believe the pops are correct. The last one to appear in major public auction (NON CAC of course) sold for $31,000.00 08/09 B+M. if you are a serious collector of gold rarities-or Three Dollar pieces, this is a must see. PCGS has 2 in MS66, good luck finding them. And if you did, they might cost you $100,000.00 each!

Legend Numismatics is proud to own and offer this mega $3 Gold rarity.
