WOW! For a date that typically comes not so nice, this is a really exceptional coin!
Surprising surfaces are semi-satiny and are very clean. There are no real ticks. With a strong glass all you can see are some Mint made die polishing lines. There is a slight hint of semi-prooflike mirrors. The luster is strong and really brings out the full rich original orange gold colors. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have outstanding strong strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous!
ONLY 2600 pieces were ever minted for this quiet “stopper” date. PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only 5 coins finer! We can’t stress enough how much the quality and rarity of this piece does matter in the world of $3 pieces. If you are building any kind of a choice set, this could be your only opportunity for a choice 1867!
