$3 1868 PCGS AU58+

We have handled many AU58 $3 pieces in our career. This piece just jumped out at us. Extremely clean and smooth surfaces are all over. Only if you use a strong glass and look really hard can you find a hidden ding and line or two. NOTHING stands out. The surfaces are also faintly semi-prooflike. You don’t have to imagine the mirrors are there. Both sides are a wonderful and totally original mix of gold/pinkish gold/deep yellow gold colors. There are NO spots or discolorations on the high points. Miss Liberty and every detail are extremely well struck. The eye appeal is gorgeous! Only 4850 were minted. PCGS 46, NGC 125, CAC 10. This is the ONLY AU58+ graded by PCGS.  They slapped a Collectors Universe Value of only $3,250.00. Considering this coin probably looks and is BETTER then most MS60-61 coins, we think that number is cheap. The last regular PCGS  CAC AU58 sold at auction $3,525.00 08/2014. Do not think these are so easy to find in AU58. This will make a great “put away coin” or addition to any $3 set. WE HAVE POSTED THIS COIN AT OUR BEST PRICE
