J-397 $1 1864 PCGS PR65 RB

$26,500.00

This is an R-7 (4-12 minted) and is a copper trial striking. The quality and eye appeal are nothing less than incredible! Full booming deep mirrors seem endless. They have usual clarity, cleanliness, and and an intense reflection-something you rarely see on copper pieces.  There are no spots or copper related imperfections. Both sides are on fire with a totally original GEM Mint Red and bursts of pale violet/pale blue colors. This coin does have more red then brown visible (this coin is light years superior to the typical RB copper dollars you see). Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and are fully struck. The eye appeal is jaw dropping! PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 2 (we think this coin is 2x). Simpson has the PR65RD Cameo piece which is not coming out in our lifetime. So this second finest known is the best you can buy! It is our very strong opinion, this coin is GROSSLY UNDERvalued. A regular SILVER Proof (pop 17) is virtually the same price. When you consider how many J-397 were ever made and this coins overall sensational condition, you’ll have to agree with us-it’s too darn cheap. This coin has NEVER been sold in auction-and there are NO auction records for the date or grade. Opportunity knocks loud here not just for Pattern collectors. This is a monumental Civil War era date.
