J- 965 50C 1870 PCGS PR65 RB EX SIMPSON

A remarkable GEM. This is one of the few pieces we purchased from the Simpson Sale of Standard Patterns our auction company sold.  We think the coin not only is high end, but is “gods gift” to all copper 50C Standard Patterns! This coin is a high R-7 (LESS then 4-12 minted). Here is the description from the catalog: This is a stunning HIGH END, SUPERB GEM piece! Superior deep mirrors have it all: bold clarity, they are super clean, and they have one eye catching intense reflection. It is a joy to twirl this GEM! Both sides are bathed in beautiful totally original shades of mint red/green/pale blue/violet/gold colors. There are NO spots. Every detail stands out with thick frosting and a killer strike. The eye appeal is tremendous! PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 1. We find it hard to believe there could another. (we think the pop is this coin). Somehow there is a current Collectors Universe value of $9,500. Keep in mind, once this coin is sold, you most likely will not be to get another GEM! This coin realized $7,931.00 in our sale. When Simpson bought it he PAID $13,500.00 from us in 2010. With out accurate price guides (which are impossible due to lack of trades) a coin like this easily will “slip through the cracks”.  We know at the price we paid the coin is a bargain.  The eye appeal alone makes it worth much more.  We wonder, how can a coin like this NOT be worth at least $10,000.00 today? Remember, this was NOT a duplicate-it IS one of the FINEST known Patterns from the all time #1 set!
