FIRST WEEK OF APRIL

NOTE: WE ARE HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH OUR WEB SITE. WE ARE WORKING TO FIX THINGS ASAP.

ALL IS QUIET ON THE HOME FRONT

After a staggering amount of business in Q1, we welcome a little down time. Even though the market is very strong, tax time usually slows things for a week or two. For the next 10 days we are doing some heavy travel to pick up some cool deals. So much for cutting back on flying! Legend will be at our regular table at the PCGS Las Vegas Invitational April 12-13th.

It is still our strong feeling that as the stock market gyrates, hard assets will be the beneficiaries. We are still seeing many new collectors entering the fray. So far, we have been lucky, save for two ambitious souls who are making our old age come on faster, we are working on a few new powerful Type sets, and no sets that would keep us up at night wondering if we could find the coins. We have not seen even a hint of the dreaded “I” word (investment).

In our orbit, collectors want REAL quality and great eye appeal. Some how, the big black hole got even deeper with little to nothing returning to earth. If the Gardner, Newman, and even Pogue sales happened today, the market could easily absorb them all with out even a belch like it did for 2-3 years after.

We are still forever gold bugs and see a really strong future for better gold coins. Too bad so few can be found!

LEGEND WILL NOT BE POSTING ANY NEWPS THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 14TH. Our offices are open for biz as usual. This allows us to play some catch up with our inventory.

NEED TO CLARIFY

When we say the market is better-we mean it. There are certain coins we can not find or keep in stock when we do. We are seeing big ticket coins have a total revival. New collectors are popping up. However for some reason many people seem to think our message means the coins they bought 2-3 years ago are ripe for profits. NOT! Rare Coins do not work that way. You have to hold the coins long term and seek the short term cycles to sell.

We can not believe how many people forget that buying (even for them) is a struggle. If you are buying a coin from auction, remember you are in a competition. So you are paying the highest price. Most dealers would immediately be knocked out of buying your coins even before the final bids were placed. Not only is there NO guarantee the under bidder will always hang around, the chances are the price you paid was ahead of the market. So expecting a profit from something in a recent auction has little chance of success.

Another thing people forget, the freshness factor. We’re working on 2 deals right now we sold collectors in 2010. 8 years is now long enough for the coins to become fresh. The coins were all handpicked, are CAC, and are extremely eye appealing. At the time we all paid strong for the coins. Today, the collectors are enjoying significant profits! Good money CAN be made-if you fully understand how to do it. Quality and eye appeal are everything too. If you are thinking buying now at the beginning of a bull run will make you money in 1-2 years, do NOT count on it. Of course there always will be a special coin or two that will buck the market.

Since we are pushing hard the fact we need to buy, we’ve had too many people who think what they just bought in the past 1-2 years can make money. Just not so.  It pains us to have to reject great coins or disappoint a collector. So we wanted to clarify our statements about the market. Even the best quality and eye appealing coins have to wait for their time to come to make money.

We kinda surprised ourselves. Our NEWPS are a smaller offering, but when we started posting them, we realized we had a powerful little group. Its easy for us to say every coin this week is a highlight!
