1803/2 $5 Gold Draped Bust Large Eagle PCGS MS62 (CAC)

We don’t find very nice early gold pieces like this very often. No question this coin is VERY HIGH END!

The obverse is a lock 62 while we grade the reverse¬†a 63 (isn’t that how it usually is?). There are a few light ticks and scuffs visible only when using a strong glass. None are deep or really detract. A strong luster beams from all over. Both sides are evenly color a totally original deeper yellow gold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do have light frost. The eye appeal is strong!

PCGS 61, NGC 43, CAC 13. We all know the sheets need to catch up on coins like this. Think about his-the total pop in 62 is only 13 coins. That is not a lot at all.
