1836 1/2C Half Cent Classic Head PCGS PR65RB (CAC)

$32,500.00

A SPECTACULAR Red and Brown GEM 1836 B-1 Original Proof half cent. This marvelous coin is the second highest graded example in the designation at PCGS, and this coin is totally original and very fresh to the market.

Flashy red mirrors beam boldly on the obverse highlighting a delicate blush of iridescent overtone, while the reverse has a rich violet-blue over chocolate brown patina. Accents of original red cling to the protected areas in the devices. Sharply struck up, this coin is struck from the freshest state of the dies, with no die crack at S OF on the reverse. A few tiny flecks can be found with a strong glass attesting to the originality. Housed in an old green tag holder, this coin has NOT sold via auction in the modern era.

Only 42 Proofs were struck. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. There are no auction records for GEMS in the RB color classification for this Rarity-5 issue; a PCGS PR64 RB CAC sold in June 2020 for $32,500. The current PCGS Price Guide value in this grade is $42,500. PCGS has graded just a single coin finer, a PR66 RB.

This coin is a super value in our opinion!
