1850 $20 Gold Liberty Type 1 PCGS MS62+ (CAC)
WOW, WOW, WOW! This coin is thousands of light years beyond so many 1850’s. We do not know what PCGS was thinking by only grading it a 62+ (no promises). It might be only single tiny tick from 63 (it IS that close).
Killer surfaces are pretty clean and are boldly semi-prooflike. Even when using a strong glass there is not much to see (everything is microscopic). You can see some Mint made striations from the cleaning of the dies. A full booming luster beams from all over. There is bold contrast between the devices and fields. Both sides are a GEMMY yellow gold color. There are NO spots or discolorations of any size. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and are fully struck. The eye appeal is insane!
PCGS 39, NGC 22, CAC 4. PCGS has graded 3 in MS62+. None have ever seen sold via auction. We would compare this coin to a 63 anyway. The current Collectors Universe value is $65,000.00. We think it should be more for a MONSTER coin like this! We assure you, the only better coin we have seen was the MS64 we sold for $200,000.00 a few years ago. You can’t find 1850’s (or ANY early $20) like this!
