1868 Pattern J-648 10C PCGS PR64BN (CAC) EX SIMPSON
This coin is a HIGH R-6 31-75 minted. And it is such a wicked cool coin. It is a Large Cent design as a dime-in copper!
While the mirrors are subdued, this coin’s quality is amazing.
The surfaces are pristine and we really can’t see why this coin is not a higher grade. There are no flecks or spots. The colors are an original pale brown w/pale greenish hints. Every detail is knife sharp to the degree you could cut yourself holding the coin The eye appeal is fantastic!
PCGS 7, NGC 0, CAC 2. This realized only $3,360.00 in the Simpson Sale 02/2021. One sold in Goldberg (not this coin) for $4,800.00 09/2021. It is one of the few VERY affordable patterns he owned that wasn’t a standard silver. To be able to buy a Large Cent parading as Dime is breathtaking! Plus, we think it’s a heck of a deal. Opportunity knocks loud here!
