Head of 1795. We could not even believe this coin existed. Its the PERFECT 1794 1C! Now this coin is ULTRA HIGH END to the degree we wonder if it would just + or what (we make NO promises). Thank goodness for 3rd party certification which preserved this coin in all its perfection. This coin absolutely is the FINEST known in Brown.
This coin has been away for at least 40+ years. It was owned by one of the biggest and most successful dealers of the 1960’s and 70’s. Back then, dealers would run into coins that were so outrageous many would keep them for themselves. In this coins case, someone did. This coin came directly from the family. It was due to go into a world class collection, but something more interesting came along (really hard to believe).
Impeccable surfaces are a dream. Even if you use a strong glass-you only see perfection. That perfection also includes being struck on a problem planchet. The surfaces are wonderfully textured and show no roughness. For sure this coin has never been messed with in any way. There is minimal luster, just some glossiness. Both sides are a GEM Original moderate brown color. The reverse has some shades of faint Mint red/gold. There are ZERO spots, stains, or discolorations. Miss Liberty and every detail are perfectly struck up. This coin exhibits one of the greatest eye appeals you will ever see for an MS Brown 1794!
PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. Its never easy pricing a once in life time coin where there is ZERO record of it ever selling this century! The collector who owns it via our consultation (but never placed it in their set) paid what we feel is a very reasonable price. There are no other coins graded anywhere over MS65BN save for this monster. The MS65BN NO CAC last sold for $109,000.00 in 2008. 11 years ago! We feel very strong our offering price is more then fair.
It is both the collector and our hope this coin ends up in a great home that can truly appreciate the significant quality and rarity of this piece. We are honored to have been its short term steward.
