PHENOMENAL quality and eye appeal! We seldom see 1862 25C Proofs in ANY grade, let alone to find one so nice.
Electric and nearly ultra deep mirrors beam from all over. They have great cleanliness and clarity. The reflection is intense. The mirrors look like a highly polished freshly made sheet of glass. A marvelous band of neon like royal blue/violet/gold colors frames only the rims on both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have vivid thick white frost. The eye appeal is tremendous!
ONLY 550 pieces were minted on this hard to find Civil War era date. PCGS 4, NGC 2, CAC 1. PCGS has graded NONE finer. Here is a really curious fact: NO PR66 from either PCGS or NGC have ever sold at auction.Legend Auctions did sell a PR65+ for $8,338.00 in our early days 07/2013. Think about that, our records span a 20 year period! If the coin market weren’t in a slight funk and if this coin were in auction, it would easily sell for much more. Our guts feel this coin even today should be $20,000.00 minimum. BUT, we live in the real world!
