MID OCTOBER REPORT

A NEW HOT TOPICS IS NOW POSTED TOO

STATUS QUO

Can’t say anything dramatic is going on. We had a very good sales week. We’re becoming spoiled by so many people buying coins on a Saturday within minutes-a few hours of the NEWPS being posted. last week, we had sold nearly $180,000.00 from the web site by 9 AM Monday (the biggest coin was the monster 1885 $1 PCGS PR68 Cameo)...

WELCOME TO OCTOBER REPORT

AS THE SEASONS CHANGE

This is not only summer sliding into a cooler fall, but a cool time in the market morphing into a hot time! As we have been predicting, the market is coming back. Collectors who saw nothing during the summer,  stayed silent,  and went into hibernation seem to be back. The biggest problem, there is NO major show until Baltimore Nov 9-11 and then NO major shows until FUN...

THE SEPTEMBER PCGS INVITATIONAL

UNEXPECTED ATTENDANCE

Here comes our broken record again. If you have not been to a PCGS Invitational go!  These are very small shows that offer a unique opportunity for collectors to have some face time with the real movers and shakers while meeting other collectors and getting their coins graded.

We expected nothing much from this show. Several of the bigger players were from Houston and Florida and as expected they did not attend...

MID SEPTEMBER II REPORT

QUIET POWER COINS TRADING HANDS

Be aware that what we discuss in the Market Report is written from Legend Numismatics point of view. We deal in the top 5% of rarities and the upper end of quality. That would include a coin like a MS66.9+ MS66 Morgan. It is a myth that all our coins are above $10,000.00. This past year, coins valued from $1,000.00-$10,000.00 flown out the door  as fast as we post them...

MID SEPTEMBER REPORT

SHOWS NOT NEEDED

Not really, but its nice to have no pressure to travel and worry about being here and there, getting first shot, and of course the headache of security. At least at home we have regular human hours and even get a few surprise calls with some neat coins being offered. As of this writing we are working on buying a major world class rarity in our offices. With no pressure being at show,..

THE LONG BEACH SHOW

INCLUDED IN THIS MARKET REPORT ARE EXPERIENCES AND OBSERVATIONS FOR OUR POINT OF VIEW. LEGEND NUMISMATICS MOSTLY DEALS IN THE TOP 5% OF QUALITY AND RARITY, SO WE WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW OF THE SHOW THEN OTHERS.

We’d like to offer a prayer and our thoughts for our good friends in Florida-especially our friends in the Keys. We hope Irma brings only minimal damage and every one is okay. Having stayed through Sandy then suffered for weeks after,..

LONG BEACH WEEK

Legend Numismatics wishes everyone a safe an happy Labor Day weekend.

BACK TO COINS!

For millions of kiddies its a sad back to school. For us coin weenies, its back to coins. We expect the summer doldrums to start winding down in the next week to 10 days (if history repeats it self).  While our President, Laura Sperber is trying to rest, she keeps being drawn back in to work for unexpected reasons...

OKAY WE CHANGED OUR MINDS

Last week we said no more NEWPS until after Long Beach. Opps! We did so much business and got a few unexpected coins (like the H.01 1855 and the now on hold already $10 1860O) we figure okay we’ll go with the flow.

Typically the second week after the ANA show is deader then dead...

POST ANA MARKET REPORT

BACK FROM THE DEAD

What a powerful title, but we mean it. Any dealer who buys and sells coins on our level simply lied about a good ANA show in their reports-unless the Utah guy cleaned them out or they had a special situation. Folks, next to the 1981 ANA Show when the market absolutely crashed (oh were we there), this was the crash of the ANA Show. Too bad everyone is in denial about it...

THE 2017 ANA SHOW

THIS REPORT IS BEING WRITTEN BASED UPON THE EXPERIENCES AND OBSERVATIONS OF LEGEND NUMISMATICS. LEGEND DEALS IN TOP QUALITY AND RARITIES SO NATURALLY OUR REPORT IS BASED ON THAT MARKET-OTHERS WILL HAVE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES.

GHOST SHOW

Sadly, we strongly believe the days of the great ANA Shows are gone (sorry, we won’t sugar coat things). It is our strong opinion this was a marginal at best show for most...

THE PRE ANA MARKET REPORT

OVERWHELMING ACTIVITY

We were shocked at the activity we had this past week. Never in our companies history did we sell so much so close to an ANA Show. This activity happened right smack in the middle of the summer doldrums too (the prior week was super slow for us).

As we mentioned, we have not been able to buy really nice coins between $1,000.00-$4,000.00. So the few we had sold pretty much as we were posting them Saturday...

MID JULY REPORT

SUMMERTIME SLOW

The summer doldrums are alive and well. Something we did not think about-our customer base apparently was watching our auction last week and held off buying from our web site.  So web sales to our non core group had been very slow-until Friday. As we started posting coins we got action. Several of our NEWPS were sold in seconds of posting!  In fact writing this report was delayed due to the action...

THE PCGS JULY PCGS INVITATIONAL

A NEW HOT TOPICS IS NOW POSTED

EVERYTHING WAS HOTTER THEN HOT!

Did you ever go to Las Vegas in the summer?  Forget that nonsense about dry heat. It was 109 and felt like an inferno. It was the same at the auction-the pace and prices realized were also sizzling hot.   We are not kidding!

As usual the PCGS Invitational was a great show...

THE SUMMER FUN SHOW

AN EXCELLENT STATE SHOW

We attended the Summer FUN Show specifically to meet with  a customer. We did not take a table. Our observations were a little surprising.

Dealer wise, it was really a state show with a handful of dealers from out of state. Attendance wise, we were surprised. Thursday seemed to have a bit of a crowd-still nothing to brag about-but in our opinion, it seemed better then the last Baltimore Show which had empty isles...
