THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER

A “MUST READ’  NEW HOT TOPICS IS NOW POSTED. IT IS ABOUT AN ISSUE LEGEND NUMISMATICS HATES. IT IS A LETTER TO THE HOBBY WAS WRITTEN BY A PASSIONATE COLLECTOR.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING IN?

The stock market for all purposes took a nose dive and is making a huge correction. Like millions of other people we are out on our first floor ledge ready to jump...

FINAL REPORT ON NOVEMBER

WHEW! THANK GOODNESS NOVEMBER IS HISTORY

What a roller coaster upside down month we had. Our heads are still spinning.

We started the month off like ragging bulls, and ended it like wounded bulls. However for us, the month turned out to have strong sales and to be profitable. Our sales came in spurts. We had great highs (selling six figure coins) and great lows having six figure deals aborted at the last minute...

THANKSGIVING WEEK REPORT

WE ARE ALL STILL ALIVE AND KICKING!

We gave our thanks, and are now ready to move on. As typical for the week, activity was very quiet. However, out of the clear blue we have been offered a few off the chart insane items that have been off the market for a very long time. Plus, after some reflection on T day, we realized life isn’t over or even close to being over for the coin market...

THE PCGS SAN ANTONIO SHOW

NO SUGAR COATING ABOUT TODAY’S COIN MARKET

Anyone who tells you the coin market is on fire is either lying or wears rose colored glasses. There is a clear and hugely diversive two tier market right now. We see it on the bourse floor and we clearly see it in every auction-not just ours. People who own “stuff and dreck” are finding out their coins are now only worth cents on the dollar...

PRE PCGS SAN ANTONIO INVITATIONAL SHOW

A LAME EXCUSE

We are doing business again. BUT we are not lighting the world on fire with sales. For the past 2-3 weeks our business has been very steady which is what we expected to see early last month. Since Baltimore (which was a good show for us), we have sold well over $2 million in top end coins. We easily could have sold more, but we can not find what we need...

EARLY NOVEMBER REPORT

LOOKING BACK ON OCTOBER

What a long nasty up and down, off and on month it was. We can not really pinpoint blame for this ride. However, many people are pointing to the stock market. Its easy to see how after a few really bad days no one feels like buying much of anything. Now, over the last few days of a mini quikie recovery, we have witnessed people pulling some monies out and moving them into collectables again...

THE OCTOBER BALTIMORE SHOW

THE SHOW

As always we say congrats to Mary Counts and her team for putting on yet another successful show. As an ex show promoter we know how hard it is to make everything work together. Good job guys!

A NOTE: We apologize for not posting a Market Report or NEWPS last week. This week is late due our delayed leaving the Baltimore Show. Everything is okay and from this point on we will be back on schedule...

FINALLY THE SUMMER DOLDRUMS ARE ENDING

EVERY YEAR THE DOLDRUMS GET WORSE

We are happy the summer doldrums are finally starting to end. Every year it seems they last longer and longer, There is no full speed ahead as this year it seemed the beat down was pretty hard. We had hoped our September Regency Sale would jump start things. It looks like it has ever so slowly, but the market is still choppy. Most dealers are still broke due to tight grading and poor sales...

EARLY OCTOBER REPORT

STILL CHOPPY WATERS

We did sell a fair amount of coins this past week. Many were NEWPS and others were “old time” holding hands so people understood the values type of sales. We did very little with Want Lists (we are dry again). It is still a very choppy market right now.

Collectors seem to be understanding more that yes, there really is a HUGE difference in price and market demand in CAC vs NON CAC...

THE PCGS INVITATIONAL SHOW-LAS VEGAS

PCGS INVITATIONAL

Yet again, PCGS put on an incredible show. We can not say enough that if you have not been to one, come and check it out!

It was easy to do biz as most dealers seemed eager to both buy and sell. Grading was tight-but that is just fine. Too many dealers are too spoiled by throwing up retreads to see what works.

We helped the show not only by co-hosting a very special event,..

THE BIG WEEK

THINGS ARE HOLDING THEIR OWN

We just saw a sales report for the first 3 weeks of September. Some how we have done $2,000,000.00 in sales to collectors. That was kind of shocking as we thought we did not do much so far. We can admit when things are quiet. We even predicted that after ANA this would happen for about 30 days. We are confident our huge Regency Sale coming up this week will blow activity up and the market will be back in a heart beat...

MID SEPTEMBER REPORT

LOOKS LIKE THE MARKET IS PICKING UP EARLY

By design, Legend had a very quiet time last week. However we are now experiencing an up turn in activity All of our top customers have come to us saying “how come no coins-you forget about us?”. Ugh, not we have not for gotten about anyone! Just there are less then no coins around. Even the coins we posted today as NEWPS-5 were immediately  hit...

THE LONG BEACH SHOW

JUST AS WE EXPECTED

Legend Numismatics wishes a Happy New Year to all our Jewish friends

First, this is being written on Friday afternoon at the show. Yes, the principals of Legend are in attendance. This is only due to the fact they have personal biz Sunday (going to see FOX NFL Live in studio-it was amazing). Being at Long Beach on this particular Friday was very painful.  We can imagine Saturday-it will be heart breaking for us...

LABOR DAY WEEK 2018

LEGEND NUMISMATICS AND LEGEND AUCTIONS WISHED EVERY ONE A SAFE AND HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND

ALL IS QUIET

Just as we predicted, nothing major happening. After EVERY ANA that we can remember, the next 30 days are dead. This year will be no exception, as many coins traded hands at the show and with all the huge auctions people have an awful lot to digest. We had a huge August and ANA Show so we have no panic and can take it slow...

END OF AUGUST REPORT

WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO?

What a whirl wind summer. The only two things we can remember-a great Summer FUN and an ANA apparently where we did far better the we thought (we are finally due our report today-which is why this report was delayed). At the ANA show, if you include the 5C 1913 at $4,560,000.00, Legend Numismatics spent $1,996,000.00 in Heritage alone (two coolest buys: H.01 1794 PCSG MS65 BN CAC $204,000.00 and of course the School Girl Pattern PCGS PR66 Cameo CAC $312,000.00) and our total ANA show purchases added up to be OVER $8,000,000.00-of which most coins are sold! ..

THE 2018 WORLD FAIR OF MONEY SHOW

THE SHOW

First, we must comment how the show has shrunk to the size of a regular Baltimore or Long Beach Show. Very alarming. However we are happy they finally came to their senses and put nice carpeting down in the premium section. Our hunch as that this show had  chance to be better the horrible Denver we all suffered through last year. Surprisingly, we were right! The 2018 WFOM was a decent show!..
