THE LONG BEACH SHOW

STRANGE BUT GOOD

We had a great show overall, but activity at tables was overall slow to non existent. Attendance by collectors was okay, but we sure did not see heavy spending-nor did any of our peers. On Thursday we  sold 3 coins total for  $350,000.00 (2 coins were $95,000.00 each to collectors) which was pretty much our entire retail at the show. However, our “super secret stealth seller” had a strong show (breaking news just in) correct that he had a MONSTER show and sold around $800,000.00! ..

PRE LONG BEACH REPORT

HERE THE WEATHER IS NOT SO HOT-BUT IN OUR OFFICE IT IS SCORCHING!

For the first 9 days of June, our sales have far exceeded what we had expected.  Even more surprising, so has our purchasing. Just a few weeks ago were starting to moan about little to no supply and how it could slow down the market. Not for us any more! Since June 1st, Legend has bought OVER $1,500,000.00 worth of the last things in the world we ever expected to buy-better PCGS CAC gold! ..

EARLY JUNE MARKET REPORT

WHAT WE SEE HAPPENING

May was a far better month then we expected. Legend Numismatics had really strong sales, while Legend Rare Coin Auctions had a record breaking sale. The world has not gone mad for coins. However, the economy is clearly stronger, unemployment is low, and with all its gyrations, the stock market seems to be moving forward again. That means there is money to be spent out in the world...

WE ALSO THANK AND SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

WHERE DID MAY GO?

We were so busy all month we could not lift our heads up to check the calender. Poof! May is pretty much done. While we don’t have final numbers, it looks like the Legend companies (legend+legend auction)  sold over $8,500,000.00 worth of coins...

THE NEW ORLEANS PCGS INVITATIONAL

Legend Numismatics deeply regrets having to open this Market Report mentioning the passing of a great guy and respected dealer Charlie Browne. We are totally heart broken. Charlie had battled an illness for many years. At least he was able to keep doing what he was both talented at and loved until the end-being a coin dealer. Our hearts and prayers go out to Charlie, his family, and John Brush and the DLRC family. We lost one of the absolute true “great guys (not just good) dealers...

The first session alone brought $646,000,000.00 million!..

EARLY MAY

ACTIVITY IS GOOD

It never ceases to amaze us how when we put up a large group of NEWPS (vs a small group) activity in the beginning starts off so slow. It took until Wednesday for sales to start rolling. When activity started, it was like a train speeding up. We even did two bigger sales Friday afternoon. In the end, our sales were well over $500,000.00 for the week. With no shows or any big deals happening,..

LEGEND NUMISMATICS WILL BE AT TABLE 1001 AT THE CSNS SHOW

TIMED IT REALLY RIGHT

It only took 40 years in biz to figure our every April things slow to stop around tax time. This year we semi took off for the first two weeks of April. We even went to the Long Beach Grand Prix and got our pics snapped with Mario Andretti (and Laura who is trying to fly much less broke 2,000,000  miles on the way there)...

BREAK TIME

QUIET TIME

Sort of. The principals of Legend are taking a much needed short break during the April 15th tax time. Things usually get quiet now anyway. Plus, we picked up two substantial deals that need to be processed and they won’t be ready for a week or so. And last week we switched our web site server or something and as many of you know, it did not go well (we think all the bugs are now fixed)...

FIRST WEEK OF APRIL

NOTE: WE ARE HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH OUR WEB SITE. WE ARE WORKING TO FIX THINGS ASAP.

ALL IS QUIET ON THE HOME FRONT

After a staggering amount of business in Q1, we welcome a little down time. Even though the market is very strong, tax time usually slows things for a week or two. For the next 10 days we are doing some heavy travel to pick up some cool deals...

END OF Q 1 2018

SO FAR SO CRAZY

We did not expect much to happen this past week. In fact, we did not think we’d even sell $100,000.00. BAM! On Friday we found out we had sold over $500,000.00 with out trying. The biggest coin sale started as a matter of fact call-the $20 1857S PCGS MS67 CAC for in excess of $150,000.00. The it was just boom, boom, boom all week with the average coin being valued at $30,000.00...

THE WINTER/SPRING BALTIMORE SHOW

SPRING HAS SPRUNG FOR SURE

Well sort of. We thought for sure the major Nor easter forecast for Tue/Wed of the show would have killed if off. One way you could tell the market was strong-every major player arrived in by Tuesday. If we had to guess, less then 1/4 of the dealers who normally attend could not make it. Even more shocking-collectors did turn out in force Thursday. Friday and Saturday was quiet...

VISIT LEGEND AND LEGEND RARE COIN AUCTIONS AT THE BALTIMORE SHOW

ACTIVITY IS STRONG

Across the board activity is still strong. We did an amazing big deal (to be announced later)  and we know of 2 other dealers who placed some amazing six figure coins as well. As the coins pop up, the really nice ones especially go right off the market. The only “slower” pockets we still see reside on MS Type-Seated coins...

THE ANA MID WINTER SHOW

THIS ANA SHOW WAS A SURPRISE

We had expected this to be such a bad show half our staff left Thursday night. Good thing we did-we were told by multiple sources Friday was dead. HOWEVER, the show was strong on Thursday and wholesale was even better before the show opened. OUR only complaint, the show was not near any hotel.

On Thursday the small room was crowded. This was a rare event where collectors actually out numbered dealers for a short time...

MARCH MADNESS EDITION

MARCH CAME IN LIKE A LION

We are surprised that the strong wave of activity from January and February has remained unbroken. In fact, it seems only to be gaining momentum. We knew when the stock market began wavering, people would start looking to other areas to park some money. Now, we are feeling a small pinch of that money coming in. There is NO euphoria or speculation. Its just hard nosed collectors stepping up their games...
