BACK TO THE REAL WORLD

VISIT US AT TABLE 643 AT THE BALTIMORE SHOW

Legend is selling coins. But we have to work hard to make each sale. We just do not feel a “flow”. Plus, we have some serious projects in the works which we expect to complete by the end of the month.

One thing that is happening to us-we are the only dealers with full PCGS CAC offerings...

LIFE IS GOOD?

We are shocked that the times we typically see as dead, are actually alive and humming. Other dealers have told us while sales are still choppy, they are earning a decent living-but its still a grind. This problem is simple: there is a severe lack of better coins. The collecting world seems to own enough widgets. It will be interesting though as gold is rising...

WHAT A LONG DRAWN OUT WEEK

Its always frustrating when things are a bit slow on the web. However, we have been engaged in some serious projects all of the sudden that actually can be completed.

We have come to the realization, that our inventory is semi bloated with older generic gold coins. While we love these coins, to many they are boring and a lot of collectors can say been there done that...

THE LONG BEACH SHOW

MARKET REPORT IS WRITTEN BY LEGEND NUMISMATICS FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. OTHER DEALERS EASILY WILL HAVE HAD DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES.

A BRICK WALL

All the ingredients for a slow show were in place. The number one issue: only 2 weeks after FUN. The majority of major East Coast dealers did NOT attend. Due to how dry FUN was and the lack of coins being “made”, the Long Beach Show became a good place to sit and chat...

BETTER ATTITUDES

Maybe its just all the East Coast people we have run into already. We are writing this from the lot viewing room at Legend Auctions at the Marriott in Beverly Hills CA.  Yesterday we were packed from noon until 4 PM! Today we’re starting off slow, but people are now coming in.  Still every dealer from the East Coast is commenting on how nice the weather and their overall biz is...

POST FUN REPORT

STILL TRAMATIZED

In our 40 year career we never had a worse show then the 2019 FUN Show. It was a complete train wreck for us and actually took a harsh physical and emotional toll. As of this writing, we are still wounded (health wise) and fear it will be weeks before we can make a full recovery. What happened to us really does NOT reflect the current market. We allowed ourselves to drift in a direction that we simply should not have...

THE FUN SHOW

EXHAUSTING

This was a very complicated show. Activity only came in waves and was NOT strong overall for us-however we heard dealers who were selling coins for under $10,000.00 were doing very well. Do not read into that-we still sold several five figure coins and many GEM coins but activity in our types of coins was still off (we believe that is because of the auction). Our total sales for the show were just under $700,000.00...

THE END OF 2018

WHAT A CHOPPY MISERABLE YEAR 2018 WAS

Nothing came easy in 2018. We’d had mini rolls of strong sales, then we would plunge in the depths of would we ever sell any more coins? Unexpectedly November was our worst month in years. Even with all that happened we are proud to say Legend Numismatics sold $37,000,000.00 in rare coins (auction rep NOT included) and was solidly profitable. Our sister company, Legend Auctions was also profitable and sold nearly $30,000,000.00 in rare coins...

ITS ALL GOLD TO US!

GOLD, GOLD, GOLD!

This week it seems just about everything we bought and sold was gold. We sold a ton of generic like gold all the way up through our 1848 CAL $2.5 (a $160,000.00 coin).  This was yet another week where activity started slow and ended  super strong. We had planned to take it easy and LOSE money in December. No way did we expect this weeks activity.

Apparently things are so rocky out there collectors are seeking a safer haven in gold coins...

THE LIGHT SWITCH IS ON

It is amazing how the market always turns on and off like a light switch. We really did not expect November to that much of a struggle, while there was no way we expected December to be so strong.

The first two full weeks of December for Legend included selling TWO GEM PR PCGS CAC $20 Lib’s (with a 3rd one coming) and this past week selling at least a DOZEN five figure gold coins...

THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER

A “MUST READ’  NEW HOT TOPICS IS NOW POSTED. IT IS ABOUT AN ISSUE LEGEND NUMISMATICS HATES. IT IS A LETTER TO THE HOBBY WAS WRITTEN BY A PASSIONATE COLLECTOR.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING IN?

The stock market for all purposes took a nose dive and is making a huge correction. Like millions of other people we are out on our first floor ledge ready to jump...

FINAL REPORT ON NOVEMBER

WHEW! THANK GOODNESS NOVEMBER IS HISTORY

What a roller coaster upside down month we had. Our heads are still spinning.

We started the month off like ragging bulls, and ended it like wounded bulls. However for us, the month turned out to have strong sales and to be profitable. Our sales came in spurts. We had great highs (selling six figure coins) and great lows having six figure deals aborted at the last minute...

THANKSGIVING WEEK REPORT

WE ARE ALL STILL ALIVE AND KICKING!

We gave our thanks, and are now ready to move on. As typical for the week, activity was very quiet. However, out of the clear blue we have been offered a few off the chart insane items that have been off the market for a very long time. Plus, after some reflection on T day, we realized life isn’t over or even close to being over for the coin market...

THE PCGS SAN ANTONIO SHOW

NO SUGAR COATING ABOUT TODAY’S COIN MARKET

Anyone who tells you the coin market is on fire is either lying or wears rose colored glasses. There is a clear and hugely diversive two tier market right now. We see it on the bourse floor and we clearly see it in every auction-not just ours. People who own “stuff and dreck” are finding out their coins are now only worth cents on the dollar...

PRE PCGS SAN ANTONIO INVITATIONAL SHOW

A LAME EXCUSE

We are doing business again. BUT we are not lighting the world on fire with sales. For the past 2-3 weeks our business has been very steady which is what we expected to see early last month. Since Baltimore (which was a good show for us), we have sold well over $2 million in top end coins. We easily could have sold more, but we can not find what we need...

EARLY NOVEMBER REPORT

LOOKING BACK ON OCTOBER

What a long nasty up and down, off and on month it was. We can not really pinpoint blame for this ride. However, many people are pointing to the stock market. Its easy to see how after a few really bad days no one feels like buying much of anything. Now, over the last few days of a mini quikie recovery, we have witnessed people pulling some monies out and moving them into collectables again...
