A classic true GEM $5 Indian! From the first time we laid eyes on this coin we knew we had to own it. Fortunately, the price ended up right and here it is!
We unhesitatingly rank this piece as a MS65.7. Most collectors do not realize how poorly these coins can come. Clearly above average surfaces reveal no major flaws. The surfaces also appear slightly satiny smooth. A strong luster (for a $5 Indian) shows off even deeper gold color. There are NO spots or discolorations,. This coin has never been messed with. All of the details are lightly frosted and have sharp strikes. The eye appeal is really nice!
PCGS 31, NGC 20, CAC 8. PCGS has graded only ONE coin higher-which sold for $126,500.00 01/2011. Prior to this coin selling, the last $5 1914 PCGS CAC MS65 to sell in auction brought $21,000.00 02/2013. Three years is an eternity for none to have sold! If you are building a special Type or $5 Indian set, this is a great coin to add. Prices of tough coins like this won’t stay low forever.
