G $1 1871 PCGS MS67+ Ex Simpson

Having handled the majority of the very finest Gold Dollars that exist (we were major buyers at last summers Dukor/Akers Sale), we know how certain dates come and what can be found. We can tell you, this coin is an extreme find and we rarely ever see the date, let alone find one in such a lofty state of preservation. You can see this coin from across the room. It has insane gorgeous original deep fiery orange gold/reddish gold colors. There are NO spots or discolorations. Phenomenal deeply mirrored surfaces highlight the colors. The mirrors have tremendous clarity, are perfectly clean, and have blinding reflectivity. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp ins strike and have thick frost. The eye appeal is jaw dropping! Only 3900 were minted. PCGS 5, NGC 3, CAC 3. PCGS has possibly graded 2 in MS67+ with 2 in MS68. When we sold the Simpson duplicates last year in our Dec Regency Auction, this coin brought $17,625.00. We just had too much of a hard time letting this coin leave us for such a low price. The MS68 that sold in the Dukor sale brought $35,250.00 and is of course well off the market. Even though the numbers certainly work for this coin (compare it to other dates same grade), once you see it, you’ll know why we so strongly feel any price UNDER $25,000.00 is a bargain!
