Do NOT be fooled by the pops for this date and grade, these are extremely hard to find in TRUE GEM. The last one we owned, we purchased for $6,000.00 in 2005! Between then and now, we have probably seen only 2 or 3 coins-none of which we think would sticker at CAC. This coin was worth the wait!
Most impressive about this coin is its strike. Typically these are flat, this coin clearly shows off details so fine you do not need a glass to see the corn stalks or the fullness of the hair. Both sides are clean overall and only under a glass can you find some light scuffs (which make the coin a nice MS65). A very strong luster shows off the typical light nickel/faded golden brown color you see for the date. The eye appeal really is super!
PCGS 84, NGC 86, CAC 5. These are so much rarer to find than most people realize. Also, the next step up has a pop of only 8 and they cost OVER $25,000.00 if you can even find one (NONE have been CAC’d).
