$1 1845 PCGS MS63

We remember when we bought the one and ONLY PCGS MS64 for our all time #1 set. We were shocked at what we had to pay-but we at the time did not realize how ultra rare the date is in MS (not just choice MS). Considering this coin is solid to slightly high end, we think it is a bargain for anyone building a great set! We call it the “silent stopper” date.

First, you must understand this date does not come looking like an 1870. Using a strong glass you immediately see the coin is original and has NO rub. There are some light and scattered ticks, but to the naked eye the coin looks clean. A decent luster shows off moderate “old time” toning. There are hints of mirrors. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and do stand out. The eye appeal is not bad!

PCGS 2, NGC 3, CAC 2. The last one to sell in major auction brought $23,000.00 07/2005 B+M. Opportunity only knocks once every 5+ years for this date and grade!!! The ONLY MS 64 is in our FINEST EVER MS Set and won’t be for sale anytime soon.
