We actually sat and stared at this coin for several minutes. It really is that close to full DMPL. You have to remember, 1897’s come with soft, silvery shallow mirrors. This coin impressed us immediately!

Full 4″+ mirrors offer extremely bold reflectivity. The surfaces are so clean its annoying there marks on the holder (which at first glance look like they are on the coin). Also, they have crystal clear clarity. A thin light hint of gold frames the rims. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have razor sharp strikes. Her cheek is amazingly clean. The eye appeal is wonderful!

PCGS 9 (none higher), NGC 4, CAC 3. Do not let the pops spook you, these are VERY rare! The last one to sell in auction brought $4,887.00 04/2011 Heritage. Fortunately this is not an auction and we bought this fresh coin just right.
