50C 1830 PCGS MS65+ 0-106 SMALL O EX LINK

$13,950.00

We grade this SUPERB GEM MS 65.9++!!! What coin. We admit we were trying to buy 2 Bust Halves out of our last auction-this was the one we got. It really was the one we wanted. If it had been in an MS66 holder we would not have flinched. Here is the catalog description: Clearly in the Condition Census for the variety, and the FINEST O-106 ever sold in auction. While the Overton Census lists a 67 and a 66 finer, neither has ever appeared in auction and may or may not exist. What is clear is this GEM is the finest you are likely to bid on. Boldly frosted luster glows in the fields and around the devices. Sharply struck and richly toned. Soft pewter and pearly hues that show accents of lilac, gold, and olive-tan. The eye appeal is very high end, especially for an 1830! PCGS 27, NGC 10, CAC 11. The most recent example to sell was in our December 2017 Regency Auction for $16,450. Prior to that, the Earle-Eliasberg-Gardner O-101 sold in May 2015 for $17,625. With only seven coins graded finer, for the Small 0 Red Book variety, we know this GEM will bring a lot of attention from type, date, and variety collectors. Good luck! We got lucky. This coin kind of slipped through the cracks and we paid $12,300.00. Since the sale, we’ve actually kept it out a box and placed it clearly in a spot in the safe where we can see it every day! It says an awful lot when any coins excites us like this.
