This particular Bust Dollar is one of the true loves of our career. We last handled it in 2015-buying from auction and placing it w/a collector. Apparently it had been with that collector until recently. We rank the coin as a SUPERB GEM AU! Its one of the prettier AU Bust Dollars we have seen. When it resurfaced, we knew we had to own it an place it again!
Impeccable surfaces are smooth and look semi satiny. Even using a strong glass there are NO problems to be found. A very decent luster illuminates an original album toning sheen of golden brown/pale violet/gold/pale green colors that swirl all over. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The wear is light and not visible to the naked eye on the obverse. There is modest detail on the eagle. There are no real dark patches either. The eye appeal is lustrous and VERY pretty!
PCGS 45, NGC 46, CAC 5. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell in auction brought $87,000.00 01/2024. The current Collectors Universe value is $95,000.00.
