1880 $2.50 Gold Liberty PCGS MS64+ (CAC) OMG IT IS SO CLOSE TO MS65!
$13,000.00
We absolutely LOVE this GEM! We rank it an MS64.8+!!! Not hyping it, just stating a fact. This coin is housed in a very old blue tag holder (it probably was one of the fist to earn a + grade).
Unbeatable surfaces are remarkably clean and smooth. You need a strong glass to locate the few microscopic ticks there are. We cannot stress how few ticks there are. There are also a slight trace of semi prooflike mirrors. A gold luster beams all over. The color is a rich and original pale orange/yellow gold. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have delicate frost. The eye appeal is sensational!
Only 2960 minted. PCGS 7, NGC 5, CAC 2. CAC has beaned only 2 coins higher. PCGS has graded 2 in MS64+. Neither has ever appeared in any auction (that we could find). In fact NO 1880 CAC beaned coin has ever appeared in auction. Some how, there is a Collectors Universe value of $12,500.00. The pricing sheets are just wrong for this date in MS64 and higher. We can tell you the coin we are offering here has been off the market for quite a while. What a tremendous addition this coin will be to any Choice/GEM set!
