We can report to you this week was quiet-finally. We did not sell any substantial coins or deals. No concern here-as we have been surprised by our sales so far this summer We expected the summer doldrums to hit sometime in some way. However, we are in discussions with multiple people about selling their collections and duplicates.
On that note, we need to make it clear, if you purchased coins during the 2021-2022 pandemic run up, chances are you are NOT making money today. Yes, the market is strong, but in 2023 it clearly retrenched. That does not mean all coins bought during that time are losers (we are dealing with several that are not).Some gold is stronger (generics) While some gold is not (liek $5 Libs). We’d bet the Fairmont deal had a hand in those retrenching. And better Saints are strong, but are at the same levels as 2021-2022.
We are hearing rumblings about some substantial collection/coins coming up in the ANA Sales. We don’t know what they are yet-which we find both frustrating and unusual with so little time until the sales. With the market strong and knowing there could be interesting coins to buy-sell now while the prices are stronger. Waiting until the ANA Show is not a great idea as more buyers (end users) are focused on the sales. Typically, this always happens when there are huge auctions. It takes everyone 30-60 days minimum to digest. And even then most collectors have hit their limits for the year. So sell TODAY while the market can absorb your coins for more money!
Also, we are here to guide you through the maze of offerings. Sometimes, your best purchase is the one you did not make. Remember, auctions are competitions. Our fees are competitive but our results are more than worthy!
GOLD
We are green lighting buying generic gold again. We wish we could find PCGS CAC MS 65 and MS 66 Saints. The entire market is dry. No one’s bids are being hit. We LOVE PCGS CAC MS 65 Saints in MS65 BELOW $4,000.00. We prefer MS 65 vs MS 64’s because there is so little spread.
Buy other BETTER gold too. Bust gold seems cheap and there is so little around. We recommend building a Type set. A customer asked us if that was just marketing or to sell coins. ABSOLUTELY NOT! The only thing we do not recommend about a Type Set, is do not build one with generics. The lesser coins wobble in value and really do not do much. To make real money, you need to build a type set with better coins.
We think gold will trade in a range of $3,300.00-$3,100.00 for a while. Many wealthy people are still currently buying gold. Until we know that stops, we’ll keep issuing buys on gold. There is just way too uncertainty out there.
