1862 $5 Gold Liberty No Motto PCGS AU53+ (CAC) CHOICE EX FAIRMONT
$21,000.00
Not a bad looking coin. We do rank it as HIGH END.
You really need a glass to see the scattered tiny ticks . There are no bagmarks or anything big that stands out. No question the coin is 100% original. Some light “dirty” like toning evenly covers both sides. The luster is moderate, however, faint traces of semi-prooflike mirrors can be seen. A totally original deeper gold/pale orange gold color dominates. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The wear is light and is even. The eye appeal is nice!
Only 4430 were minted. PCGS 8, NGC 8, CAC 2. CAC has only beaned 4 coins finer. PCGS has graded ONLY this coin as 53+. It brought $21,000.00 04/2022 in the Fairmont sale. The current Collectors Universe value is $22,500.00. We can not stress enough the rarity of this date in ANY grade of AU. Good luck finding another example of this date in AU w/a CAC bean!
