We not only consider this a great early $5, we call it FULL GEM AU! The surfaces are superb with a few ultra light lines/ticks only visible when using a strong glass. This is NOT a hacked up or harshly lined coin. A good luster can be seen from all over. We do suspect this coin was lightly dipped long ago (it is NOT washed out). Both sides are a lovely brilliant gold color. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are sharply struck. All wear is super light and is hard to find. There are NO discolorations of the highpoints. The eye appeal is wonderful!
PCGS 40, NGC 7, CAC 8. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell via major auction brought $20,400.00 09/2025. The current Collectors Universe value is $21,000.00. We can’t stress enough how “in demand” pieces like this are today-and how few actually are for sale. Having ONLY 8 beaned by CAC is a powerful statement as to the coins rarity.
