SAY IT ISN’T SO!

GOLD – WHAT GOES UP MUST…

Gold is finally having its correction. And what a correction it is. As of this writing, spot broke below $4,000.00. That does not mean gold bulls aren’t still calling for $6,000.00 by year end. In fact, while a major central bank somewhere is selling, the smart money—from what we’ve been told—is buying. It is our opinion that it is only a matter of time before gold turns around.

We HIGHLY recommend buying anything gold on the dip. It will be a tall order. When gold was hovering around $5,000.00, we could only find one or two generic MS65-66+ Saints. Today, with gold down, we cannot buy a single PCGS CAC Saint. For sure, if we liked MS65 and MS66+ when spot was higher, we LOVE them even more now. Although the bids are over $7,000.00 for MS66+ Saints and probably won’t go down. They just never appear.

Build your gold Type set today! Especially if you are going to add more generic types of coins. Better date gold still has an endless number of buyers, it seems. No matter how you buy gold, buy on the dip, which for sure is now!

How is the rare coin market affected? It is not. While prices have cooled a bit because it is summertime, demand has not. We cannot buy enough coins to fill many open Want Lists (no specific structures). The app sellers are still going strong as well. With all the new collectors who started buying in the past two years, we expect the coin market to be vibrant for a very long time.

Legend has huge Want Lists for better gold. Especially ALL BUST $10s, save for 1801’s (don’t want any). We need those in AU 53-MS64! They MUST be PCGS CAC or CACG. Could use 3 $10 1795s in AU and higher! Anyone got it? And don’t even get us started on better PCGS CAC (ONLY) MS 65 Saints (and generics too). We could spend millions on them.

A REFLECTION ON THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF 2026

Where did the time go? This year is really flying by.

January started out with a boom. No one expected the FUN show to be as off the charts busy as it was. It was not just people trading bullion. Collectors came to buy. We started off selling nearly $1 million. Something we had not done at a FUN show in a very long time. Typically the market slows after FUN. This year it did not.

February was startling for us. That was typically our “give back” month after having a good January. In many years, we would lose a little. This year that did not happen. In fact, Legend sold MORE in February than in January. That is a first in Legend’s history. That month, we also purchased the $10 1911-D PCGS MS66 CAC James Stack coin for Half Dome, adding it to his all-time finest $10 Indian set. That coin cost $1,800,000.00!

March came around. We sort of hit a slump. But due to a severe lack of coins, we feared we would lose money and that our sales would suffer for the rest of the year. We slugged it out and got lucky buying some better gold. For some reason, our profit margins in March were the best all year. We had not expected March to be a good month. What a pleasant surprise.

In April, the tax man came and left with a whimper. For the first time in years, the market did not slow. A lot of dealers (including Legend) expected the CSNS Show at the end of the month to be slower. OMG, it was incredible. In fact, we closed April with the highest grossing sales of the year!

May rolled around. We started the month off incredibly strong. Things slowed a bit as we approached the holiday. That was kind of expected by us. Unexpectedly, our retail was strong throughout, and we had another great month.

June is this month. What in the world? We yet again expected things to slow. NOPE. We could have stopped doing business on June 15th and still had a good month. This past week. Our sales were like a sonic boom! We sold nearly 1 million dollars. It did not seem to matter that gold was dropping. What did we sell? Type and lots of better gold. Better gold has been crazy strong all year. We even got 3 big deals in (stay tuned later in July).

What do we expect for July? We do not like to jinx ourselves. BUT, we think we will do really well at summer FUN. Might intentionally slow down the rest of the month to rest.

THE CASE FOR PROOF BARBERS

We have always been huge fans of the series. Denominations do not matter. Legend has built the finest ever MS and PR barber 10C and 25C (RSD Collection).

How can you not love a series where you can buy a GEM coin for UNDER $10,000.00 with pops typically of 10 or less? Just look at the 10C 1914 PCGS PR67+ we just posted. Mintage 425, CAC pop 8! There is only 1 coin in PR68! You can pretty much buy any PCGS CAC PR65 Barber 50c for UNDER $5,000.00. Ditto the low mintages and low populations.

One of the most important aspects of the Proof Barber series is that the coins are available. While the very finest coins may be hard to find, you can certainly complete ALL sets in GEM condition. Think about it. When you look at most better gold, granted it’s gold, the mintages, populations, and costs are higher. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE gold type sets, but we think Barbers have yet again lagged too long in value.

If you would like to start any PR Barber set, email or call us. Building sets is what we LOVE to do!

NEWPS

Oh, do we have an offering of NEWPS this week? Let’s start with the Naples Collection of $2.5 Indian Gold. This set was #1 until Half Dome replaced it last month. You’ll love the handpicked quality (this set was built by Legend).

We have a small group of other coins as well.

Fair warning, we are bringing a lot of our coins to summer FUN. We have aggressive buyers lined up already. We expect to wholesale many for prices above our website. That’s not hype—it’s reality! Great coins are still in demand and do not grow on trees. Other dealers have customers who still need coins (darn, and we thought only Legend dealt with collectors).

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email or call us. We are here to help you with all your numismatic endeavors!

OUR OFFICES ARE CLOSED FRIDAYS. WE DO CHECK EMAILS SEVERAL TIMES EVERY DAY. PHONE MESSAGES ARE CHECKED 9 AM MONDAYS.
