We gush over this incredibly rare GEM XF piece. For a date that comes generally poor, this coin is seriously head and shoulders above most others! We rank it as VERY HIGH END!
In our opinion, if the strike were a bit better, the grade would be too. We think the coin has claims to an AU designation. Only when using a strong glass can you find light, old, tiny scratches and a tick or two. There is a faint luster. Both sides are GEM original deep gold/pale orange gold. The details are softly struck, which is typical for the date. Regardless, the eye appeal is really nice!
PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 1. There is a current Collectors Universe value of $60,000.00, which we know is low. The price guides are not accurate, as so few ever trade. If you collect D Mints or are building a great $2.5 set, this is a rare opportunity.
