We can’t say for sure what is happening with the rare coin market. Gold is over $2,000.00 yet demand became sluggish for generics and semi-generics almost overnight. The premiums for those coins are crazy low too. We can’t see that lasting too long. However, what had been the slowest area of the market in our opinion, which is Type, suddenly sprung to life. It’s December and that usually does not happen. The remaining balance of the month will be very interesting.
We have sold at least $250,000.00 worth of Type coins off our web site in the past week. NEWPs and “old friends” sold strongly. Then this week we posted a gorgeous totally original and matched 1900 PR set-and KABOOM! The first email came in only minutes after our mass email went out. Then we had 3 more calls within an hour or so-all disappointed cash buyers. All the activity this past week sure surprised us! Maybe people finally realize Type coins (Barbers and Seated coins) are just too cheap and there is little around?
Every time we decide to close early ,Dec 18th until FUN , funny things like the market coming alive happens. You can always email us even if we are closed.
