We sold $1.1 million dollars worth of BETTER GEM gold this week. We wish we had more. We were shocked at how easy it was-but then these were all coins Legend had placed a few years ago. The quality and eye appeal was as good as it gets. It just proves when the “right” coins appear, the buyers are there. Otherwise there can be little to no activity.
Besides the gold, we did sell several pieces of silver Type and we are nearly sold out of Pittsburgh Commems. We forgot how popular pretty Commems can be.
We are gravely concerned if the days of us maintaining a multi-million dollar inventory can be sustained due to a lack of coins. Mark our words, most of our inventory will be sold to hungry deals at the Baltimore Show-with many paying the full asking amount. NO ONE CAN BUY COINS CHEAP ANYMORE-unless you own a store or have very uneducated sources. If you want a really nice and eye appealing PCGS CAC coin, and CU is $5,000.00, $5,500.00-$6,000.00 probably is NOT a burial. BUT you need to know what you are doing. Work with a dealer!
One thing for sure we can do-help you avoid making bad purchases. Even buying PCGS CAC isn’t 100% risk free. And buying out of auctions, most of the time it can be the biggest mistake a collector will make. NEVER buy common or cheaper coins from an auction (unless they slip through the cracks). We can make sure you build a great collection and profit from it!
GOLD
Geopolitical tensions are rising. Gold has been on a bit of a roller coaster this past week. We see hints it is looking to break out of slumber and continue its race towards $3,000.00-$4,000.00.
We recommend buying PCGS CAC MS65 and especially MS 66 Saints. Do NOT buy things like MS 60 slightly better dated $20 Libs. Stay with coins that have proven liquidity and easier to follow markets.
Gold is at $3,384.76 at the time of this writing (futures did break $3,400.00). We have not seen any for sale lately, but we would guess a PCGS CAC MS 65 Saint would be at least $4,000.00 now, and a MS66 $5,500.00-these have had little movement.
Of course we still suggest a Gold Type set or even a small curated box of gold. There are many areas on gold rare coins where growth is possible.
NEWPS
We have two monster coins we sent out in our COW email. The 25C 1893 PCGS PR68+ CAC and the killer white $1 1883-S PCGS MS65 CAC CORONET. We do not expect either to last too long.
Another really rare and nice coin: $1 1873 TD PCGS PR65+ CAC Eliasberg. Unbeatable!
We do have a few other NEWPS posted. Our market has gone insanely dry. We are headed to Baltimore to buy! BUT we will not pay absurd prices (like a group of gold coins we just turned down).
We are looking to buy. What do you have for sale or to memo us?
Please feel free to email or call us with any questions. We are here to help and work with you!
OUR OFFICES ARE CLOSED FRIDAY. HOWEVER WE WILL BE CHECKING OUR EMAILS OFTEN EVERYDAY. WE DO NOT CHECK PHONE MESSAGES UNTIL 9 AM MONDAYS.
