BRUCE COVID-19 UPDATE
He is alive and is kicking……Looks like he will be fine. He indicated it the worst thing to ever hit him.
Our prayers are with anyone who gets this horrible virus.
THE RIGHT COINS
We’re sitting here slightly depressed watching our friends make sale after sale. Unfortunately, they are selling what we do not deal in: bullion and real bullion related coins (including generic gold). The closest we come to having the hot coins were the MS65 $20 Libs and MS66+ Saints we HAD (all sold within 24 hours of listing). The numbers we are hearing from them are beyond impressive. We strongly believe at some point the energy WILL spill over into rare coins. Selling rare coins like we do is challenging today and you need the “right” coins. Our sales are significantly off.
Of course “right” coins like BOTH $2.5 1804 circ pieces, or the $5 1798 PCGS AU55 CAC sold the same days we listed them. We can not get enough of or the “right” coins today. Obviously, PCGS is closed (we think), there are NO shows, dealers can’t move around (some can’t even go to work). so our sales are sputtering due to lack of fresh supply. Apparently the Proof Type we have (that we love) is not where demand is. It has never been more obvious to us that today if you have the “right” coins, they will sell as fast as ever. Just certain areas of the market are lagging. Why in the world high grade Proof Type is not right stymies us. We’ll make it so you can get some good deals on our Type. These coins will be “hot” again.
The point here is, the market is really not that slow. In some areas, yes, but overall, no. And if you have the “right” coins collectors will immediately step up.
This kind of activity is not what we had expected at all when the pandemic started to hit with so many business shut down. We are thrilled to see it happening. We do strongly believe that when things are opened back up, people can travel, etc, there will be one heck of a pent up demand unleashed in the coin market for everything! Even today, more and more collectors are becoming unfrozen and are starting to shop and even buy more coins online. We know hits to our web site have been huge-and near record numbers the past 2 weeks.
A lot of people ask us if we think there will be a Long Beach. LA county just announced late yesterday things are still shut until May 15th. Its such a hard call as to what and when things will reopen. And if it does happen, who would go? As this was being written NYC said no school this year kiddies. Baltimore is more a better shot of happening we think. We are fully confident that our Regency Sale in July in Las Vegas will happen because its a smaller gathering. We so look forward to unrestricted travel again (both local and national). All anyone can do is listen for the announcements.
We do see some light starting to glimmer at the end of the long tunnel. It is safe to say each day a few more coins are selling too. There is an ending to all this, we expect America will be back in full business and happiness hopefully by the summer!

The 1920S 50C is amazing. We could not stop looking at the virtually perfect right field.
The 1878 Trade Proof, WOW! A ball of flash. They do not come like this!
The 1865-S Bro $20 is SUPER HIGH END. Great coin. A real treasure ship piece. These are RARE in their original holders. We placed this coin back in 2011 and just got in trade for the MS64.
Every week we do our best to find and off the “right” coins. Take our word on it, it is not easy.
