THE MID AUGUST REPORT

A NEW HOT TOPICS IS NOW POSTED

OKAY WE CHANGED OUR MINDS

Last week we said no more NEWPS until after Long Beach. Opps! We did so much business and got a few unexpected coins (like the H.01 1855 and the now on hold already $10 1860O) we figure okay we’ll go with the flow.

Typically the second week after the ANA show is deader then dead. Nope, did not happen that way for us. Most impressive is the fact we’ve seen many old friends find good homes. We think it has to do with the fact the collectors have become more quality conscious. Since we sell ONLY PCGS CAC off our web site, we’re one of the few places in the market to go to. Even the auctions of late have not had many PCGS CAC coins. Its been extremely difficult for us to maintain a decent size inventory. We have NO plans to change our operation and start selling lesser quality coins. For this reason we believe our sales have spiked.

We were speaking to John Albanese of CAC this past week and he actually said he believes a good portion of the better coins out in the world have been graded. He is not seeing the same level of quality coins he did when he started CAC back in 2007. We also have heard from others that even the gold coming from Europe is now nasty looking and not grading very high.  As major market makers in a few areas of generic gold, we can tell you the “hits” to our bids have slowed to a trickle. The demand actually has perked up for generics. Its not even an issue of prices moving up to shake out coins, it simply is the supply is so small anyway (we touched on the markets supply denial problem last week).

Keep in mind, this is the most “off” time of the year for coin market. Yet every day now pushes us further into an all time record month (we so wish the ANA show never happened). We do NOT see demand weakening. We do not see supply coming around either. Long Beach in a few weeks looks to be another snoozer unless coins got made at ANA (which all reports we heard say no) or a big fresh deal breaks. We have not heard of  any on the horizon. Lack of supply hurts us really bad as we then have few of the right coins to sell. During those times we sincerely appreciate our customers loyalty and patience! One thing Legend Numismatics has not and will not do-sacrifice quality.

NEWPS

As you can see we do have a few really cool NEWPS. Our favorite coin by far is the  H.01 1855 PCGS MS65RD CAC. This coin just stood out and made us say wow! The $1 1876 Trade PCGS PR65 Cameo CAC is awesome too. We actually bought a few generic gold pieces and posted them as well.

We’re also posting a few “old friends”. We’re updating their descriptions and cutting prices. Some coins we really scratch our heads as to why they have not yet found good homes.

THIS IS FINAL: WE WILL NOT POST ANY MORE NEWPS UNTIL OUR RETURN FROM LONG BEACH SEPTEMBER 9TH! NOTE: the principals of Legend actually are taking a break 8/23-8/28.  It is still business as usual during that time.

ALL NEWPS ARE NOW POSTED
