MO MONEY

SEEMS EVEN MORE MONEY IS PILING INTO COINS

Just when we though the market was going to relax, it kinda did an uptick. The CSNS Auction had monstrous results. LRCA is up next, and we expect the same. More important, this past week we spoke to several new people are starting on projects ranging from GEM Gold Type sets to major collections of CC’s (which do seem to be another hot area). Legend had another strong sales week.

If you haven’t noticed, coins are semi available again. We say semi, because small handfuls of the “right ” coins appear only to disappear with in hours of hitting the market.  Overall, there is still no quantity of great coins to buy. We do still believe ANA on the flood gates will open and you’ll see almost too many neat coins appear (Bass, Bender, McGuigan etc). We heard rumblings about a few other collections as well. See below the power sets that our sister company Legend Auctions is announcing this week (the auction will be July 28th). .

Clearly 2022 is the year for hard assets. EVERYONE wants them. Does not matter if its art, coins, or cars. Even with last weeks stock market demise coins have held up. We see NO dumping. We don’t even see many people taking some profits as w have been suggesting.  This past week, we saw our sales do far more then we expected. It was soup to nuts this time-not just gold. We sold several big ticket CC Dollars that never made it to the web (Want Lists). In fact, this is the first week in awhile we probably sold as many silver coins as we have gold. How far will the market go? It still depends on how much it can absorb. Apparently the deep black hole of coins buyers is larger then we think.

Just got word from our “super secret stealth seller” who is at the PAN show (a small regional show). He sold well into six figures with no real chisles or terms requested. He said the smaller dealers were just buying everything. He was excited as he has two more days to sell there.

Final note: A Basquet painting just sold for $52,000,000.00 last week while it was just confirmed a Mercedes Benz sold for $143,000,000.00 in a private auction to a collector. Think about this, The CSNS Sale was $41,000,000.00 and had thousands of bidders. The Fairmont sale was about $23,000,000.00. The coin market is tiny as compared to art and cars. There is such a tremendous amount of money still floating around seeking strong hard assets to buy. Even the upper end of the housing market is still enjoying record pacing results (homes $5 million and up). Yes, this does matter to the coin market. The top end of the coin market still seems cheap relative to these other areas.

WHAT CAN LEGEND DO FOR YOU?

The same thing we have done for many world class collections-build you the collection of your dreams!  Even in this market we can still work our magic. The big difference between us and the other dealers, we know our coins!

Want to build a GEM Gold Type set? We can do that.

Want to build a GEM Commem Set? We can do that

Want to build a GEM Morgan Dollar set? We can do that.

When we build great collections with collectors, we work as a team.

Maybe we should say we’ve done that in most cases. We have deep sources for coins. This past month, we spent OVER $1 million on much better gold coins to die for. Most of these coins did NOT make our web site.

We can also just sell you a killer box of 20 or single killer coins.

We also do auction representation. We can navigate through the largest sales to buy the “right” coins.

We’ve been around for 40 years and have an extremely loyal customer base. We didn’t last that long by not doing things right! We are Bob Simspons exclusive dealer. Look at what we did for him! Try working with us. You’ll be glad you did. We assure you, EVERY coin we sell is all there and then some-we’ll keep you far away from the dreck and bad deals!

Call or email us to discuss.

LEGEND RARE COIN AUCTIONS

THIS WEEK IS OUR AUCTION 52 EVENT IN NEW ORLEANS. BE PREPARED! The live sale starts Thursday at 5 EST.

3 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR AUCTION 53

First up is the M & S Petty Collection of Seated Liberty Dollars. This is a complete set of Seated Liberty dollars (one of only 2 we know of), including the ultra rare 1870-S, assembled over the course of over a decade by a dedicated father and son team. The collection began as an XF/AU set, and then inspired by our partner, Bruce Morelan’s collection which until recently was the greatest set of Seated Dollars, began upgrading, with the assistance and mentorship of Laura Sperber and George Huang. Most of the coins are PCGS, and a good portion are Condition Census, and CAC approved. Famed pedigrees abound. The “M” in the name was for the son, Mark, who passed away at the young age of 21 about a decade ago from crones disease just as he was finishing a numismatic internship in New York City. It is very bittersweet to see this collection cross the block, but it is a lasting legacy for the Petty family in accomplishing something few collectors have, a complete set of Seated Liberty dollars.

Next up is The Unforgettable Collection of Classic Commemoratives. Currently ranked as #4 on the PCGS Set Registry, this collection is full of amazingly toned, high grade, and gorgeous high end examples. It is a 50 piece Type set. This is another set that has been assembled with a focus on quality and eye appeal, by a connoisseur, buying only the best over the course of many years. This is a fabulous opportunity to bid on some amazing commems, many off the market for many years.

Finally, the MHS Collection of Small Diameter Bust Quarters, is features the final dates in the series, 1831 to 1838, most are among the finest for the date and variety, each coin selected by a serious long time collector client of Legend Rare Coin Auctions and Legend Numismatics. When is the last time you saw a set of these auctioned?

Highlights from these 3 sales will be on display at Baltimore, Long Beach, and Summer FUN shows.

We’re on final call for consignments for this sale. It sort will be  a “pre” ANA sale. Contact the best team in the auction biz to work out a superior deal.
