NO BUBBLE HERE

TOO FREAKY

A Tom Brady rookie card just sold  for $1,320,000.00 in an on line auction. Only 100 were made in 2000 and it was only an 8 out of 10 grading score. Another is for sale and it is already at $707,000.00 at Lelands Auctions. Breaking news: A Kobe Byrant card just sold for $1.79 million 3/6/2021! It is only the 10th most valuable card ever sold. That is  total insanity. We feel strongly the card craze is fueled by suddenly wealthy younger people who are not mature to what true values are or should be in the collectables world. We see this as nothing more then a bubble that will take a while to burst (seems every one is now jumping in). When coins are compared to this craze, they are exceedingly dirt cheap.

In the mean time some of the huge piles of money that is out in the real world is starting to trickle into coins-a far more mature hobby. Its kinda funny how people are just “discovering” the hobby. For some odd reason since January 1, we have seen and felt these new people in a way like never before. The good news, we have not heard the dreaded “I” word (investor or investment) from any of them. They come in peace as collectors. The top end of the market which was deader then dead the last two years now has serious record breaking action. We can’t find many coins to buy period-especially generic gold. Was the Ultra High Relief in NGC 68 we got snuffed on a crazy price for $3,600,000.00? After looking back and considering how rare and beautiful these are-NO! At least with coins-save for the modern stuff, you are dealing with lower mintages, older items, and gorgeous appearances. Which is a better piece of our nations history-the first year Dollars were minted or some card? A Tom Brady Rookie Card or a $1 1794 in MS62 for the same amount? Call us jaded, we’ll take the 1st year of Dollars ever struck.

Things look pretty good for the coin market. The only problem is the same thing we’ve been talking about in what seems like forever now-a severe lack of coins. However we think demand is so strong that like a magnet to metal, as prices go up, coins (one by one) will be pulled from the deep black hole they are tucked away in. But these coins will end up one and done and back in the hole. Unfortunately, published prices are seriously lagging as they report transactions AFTER they occur. To be a successful buyer of top coins, you have think forward on pricing.

At least we are seeing MANY NEW people entering the coin collecting world at ALL levels. Sales for Legend for the first 2 months of 2021 are at all time record numbers. The pandemic seems to have spurred people to sit in front of their computers to find some thing to do. After making a ton of money in bit coin and stocks, they want to spend it. Coins are a pretty neat collectable with a long history. Sadly, the partial Simpson Collection (exclusively assembled by Legend) currently being auctioned could not have hit the market at a better time. We’ve been blown away how the interest in patterns has grown since the first Simpson auction in September.

All major auctions are now pretty much one and done for coins (that means coins are bought by collectors and do not return to the market). Watch as demand will only get stronger. It looks like a long bull run for coins is starting. Hang on! We also expect a healthy dose of inflation to kick in soon. The coins on your favorite dealers web site should be given extra special consideration today. Replacing them-especially at the current prices will be impossible!

OMG, LOOK WHAT WE HAVE FOR SALE-TWO WORLD CLASS ITEMS

THE #1 SET OF PROOF LIBERTY NICKELS. EX JERRY FORSYTHE

We were stunned when we had the opportunity to buy the #1 MS + PR sets. This set was years of hard work and heavy searching to complete. Included is the record breaking 1910 PCGS PR68 DCAMEO CAC that sold for $84,000.00 in 2018.

Look at the value here. 30 top graded coins. Most coins are pop 5 or less! Each coin represents a time long ago (starting at 138 years old) yet they are in the finest states of preservation. A PR Liberty Nickel in high grade can be every bit as beautiful as a GEM Proof Walker or even some gold coins.

We think for the price, you get an awful lot of value.

THE REMARKABLE $10 1795 PCGS MS65 CAC

Next up-The Far Eagle $10 1795 13 LEAVES PCGS MS65 CAC. WOW  What a coin. This coin is the second finest (the MS66+ sold for $2,585,000.00 IN 2015 is the finest). It is the ONLY MS65 1795 CAC’d (that makes a HUGE difference in value).

Look at what you have here: the first year struck, a gold coin, a denomenation that does not exist anymore and a coin that is 226 years old in GEM condition. We’d much rather have this coin then a 25 years old rookie card with hundreds of thousands printed.

NEWPS

Thank goodness for the 2 spectacular items we have to offer that were mentioned above. We are trying so hard to buy neater coins-especially below $5,000.00. Its not the market, its the fact the deep dark hole most coins went into is so deep it may take forever for these coins to reappear. Just know we are doing our best to continue to offer the neatest coins available.

Look: we have a killer $1 1863 PCGS PR66 CAMEO CAC and an amazing $1 1934 PCGS MS67 CAC.

ALL NEWPS are now posted. Hint: next week MS 65 and better Saints-finally! .
