A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER!
We were surprised at how active this past week was. It was not a mad house or anything, just even keel business. Very proud to say the biggest coin we sold was a $3 1886 PCGS MS65 CAC. That coin was the last coin we could never find for a set that has now morphed in to the #1 all time MS $3 Collection! Congrats to the owner.
Even though they are not sales, we had many “nibbles” on several of our bigger coins that are posted. We are highly confident sales will follow next week.
At this point we are convinced every was completely paralyzed by the election. The day after people were asking us about the Trump effect. Until now there was none. Each day we see more people returning to their normal buying habits. No one we know fled to Canada. In fact, we will tell you that today the “Trump effect” IS hitting the coin market. Coins are clearly selling again-one at time. REAL quality and REAL rarity are clearly in demand on ALL levels. Only generics still lag.
Fair warning that one day you might wake up and besides the fact demand has increased the supply of REAL coins will be NON EXISTENT. You can’t pass up the odd rarity being offered today for 10-20% too much. Down the road, you’ll be looking at price increases that will make your head spin. The great coins really do go into deep black holes never to reappear for very long period of time. Just look around, where are all the Pogue, Gardner, and Newman coins that for the brief time they were being sold hurt the market?
Stick with quality and eye appeal (our motto: there is no exception for true quality). Its something we will forever be a broken record on and be totally right about.
