WHO NEEDS THE BIG SHOWS?
We had heard the Dalton GA show was a near riot of people seeking coins. We’re getting word back from the current PAN show that according to our “super secret stealth” buyer it was a feeding frenzy like he had never seen. While he had only a few more expensive coins, he said anything slightly better sold with out any counter offers. He sold 150 coins on dealer day (that’s 2 1/2 double row boxes) worth well over $100,000.00. Interestingly he said a few dealers he sold to asked to look at again at the end of the show. They did buy again. In total he sold 260 coins worth over $250,000.00. What a dream scenerio!
Even if a major show were to held today we think the first one back might replicate these smaller shows. IF there are coins. For the bigger dealers such as ourselves, we need bigger coins. There are few bigger fresh coins popping up at all-and if so many are found in auctions. We think the second major should would be a dud for lack of coins to trade.
The upcoming Las Vegas PCGS Invitational should be every bit as crazy AND we have one of our best auctions yet (it is LIVE NOW www.legendauctions.com). We are keeping our fingers crossed there will be some Legend caliber coins to buy at the show. Legend Numismatics will be in attendance in Vegas for one day and at summer FUN on Thursday (we will be in both cities Wed).
People, PRICES ARE GOING UP in many (but NOT all) areas. In a few they have actually fallen so it is not a true bull market-yet. Watch gold. We told you, it just took some time before the gold engine started again. In our opinion, gold is by far the hottest area of the market-followed by (believe it or not) Walkers.
Our recommendation is for collectors to trim their collections NOW. How high will things go? We do not know. BUT your selling at the BEST time possible-into a frothy UP Market. Wait a few months, it many not be so frothy. We can’t tell you enough how many times people wait to sell thinking they are selling at the last minute (of timing) when the market had already started to slow. Its smart to take some winnings off the table or get out of coins that had been dead forever.
Of course its important for people to know the majority of published prices are incorrect. Current auctions are better to estimate prices off of.
BREAKING NEWS; A game worn, Michael Jordan rookie uniform just sold for $1,380,000.00. There is still lots of money out there!! We can’t figure why his rookie sports card would sell for multiples more vs this a personal and unique item. It adds to our feeling the sports card craze is a bubble. RARE COINS ARE STILL GOOD VALUE!
