CSNS SHOW ITS BAAACK!
From day one we had a tremendous CSNS show. Hard to believe but we sold only one coin valued BELOW $15,000.00. Even better was the fact the show was very well attended by collectors. These collectors certainly came to do business. Clearly, the market has fooled us again and is still speeding along (we thought prices might be getting top heavy). The CSNS people did a great job of resurrecting what had been a dying show.
Will this roaring market stop soon? A market this big and powerful just can’t put the brakes on overnight. We see more room for growth at least through the summer when several big collections are due to roll out. We can tell you next week’s Heritage auction will be strong. We just can’t see much slipping thought the cracks there. While the economy is teetering to a degree, the coin market is not. Of course, we need to see how that plays out over the next few months. BUT there is still too much money sitting idle in people’s hands.
The CSNS show also was great to buy at, Have not said that in ages. We spent over $250,000.00. A long time collector and customer of Legend sold us $80,000.00 worth of GEM Type he had put away for years. Thank you! We picked up a single coin or two on the floor. Dealers were nutso with what they were asking. Our main buying event was the sale of a major gold collection that a dealer had been selling a piece at a time since the pandemic. They finally decided to release everything. Last week back in the office we spent $650,000.00 on it. At the show we spent $125,000.00 and wish w could have bought more! These coins put many of the Fairmont coins to shame and they are of the same rarities! All the C+D Mint coins we will have listed in the next week or so are from this amazing collection.
This is being written with one more day to go at the show. No question this show was not like the last Baltimore where there was little retail and every one did their business in the hotel rooms before the show. In fact, this show was extremely refreshing and confidence boosting.
We still encourage collectors to take some profits. There will be a lot of coins coming out the second half of the year. Take to us now! Trying to sell then might not work as well as selling today.
LEGEND REGENCY 51 CSNS SALE
No question the sale was solid. Yet again, anything PCGS CAC showed extraordinary demand and value. We also were swamped by several hundred last minute bidders/registrants.
Highlighting the sale were two collections: Dale Friend and the Glorious Pattern Collection. Both sets did amazing.
The Dale friend coins had such strong book bids going into the sale we didn’t thick the prices could go any higher. They most certainly did. And that includes NON CAC coins! Highlights include:

Save for one coin-the 1892-Micro O PCGS MS67 CAC (this is why we are not in a complete bull market), bidding was aggressive.

The Glorious Pattern Collection did far better than we expected. There were many collectors bidding and many of them were new. The 20C Patterns were especially crazy bringing:

We do very much consider the overall results being very strong. The only areas that showed some weakness, NON CAC Type. Generic gold of course was super strong.
From the time we listed the sale until the hammer fell, we had record eyeballs. That translated into strong results.
NEWPS
We hit the lottery-sort of. That major gold deal that broke came to us first last week. During the pandemic we had quietly purchased such rarities as a $2.5 1875 PCGS MS63PL CAC and a $10 1869-S PCGS MS63 CAC both six figure coins, One of our first purchases last week from this amazing deal were 3 monster pop 1 $5 No Motto MS64+ gold pieces. ALL went to a Want List/ VERY happy customer. The $5 1838-D PCGS AU58+ (SOLD) also came from that deal. There will be some neat coins listed from this deal in the next week or so.
Todays NEWPS listing include coins that would absolute highlights anywhere else. These coins are irreplaceable! Their quality is incredible too. The $5 1845-O PCGS MS62 CAC blows away the Fairmont coin that brought $52,600.00. Never saw a $2.5 1844-D PCGS MS62+ CAC like it. We really wish we could have bought the whole deal!!!
