NOT SO STALLED
Prior to the invasion we felt some people were staring to sit on the sidelines. As the shock of the actual invasion wore off and prices settled, we are seeing people creep back into the coin market. Our sales Thursday afternoon were six figures!
Clearly gold could not hold its break through to $2,000.00. We saw no upward movement in the already red-hot generics. We did see the telemarketers out in force trying to peddle coins. If successful they will need quantities in 1-2 weeks. IF they are successful. This obviously is a fluid situation that will keep changing daily. We’d be shocked if more people (the general public) did not start buying gold in some form.
March will be a very interesting month. We do not see a whole lot new coming out and the demand is still off the charts for certain things. We are fearful of March because once we sell down our inventory, we can’t replace anything.
A quick note: there still is way too much money out in the world. We pass these rizty neighborhoods by the shore where folks are tearing down mansions and building fortresses all over the place. And these are second homes! It’s incredible. We’re talking dozens of homes, not just a few.
THE LONG BEACH AUCTION
It was business as usual. There were no real “superstar” coins with runaway bidding (save for the $20 1862 NGC MS63 CAC we chased and badly lost $174,000.00), however there were numerous coins with really strong bidding. Clearly there was a fresh deal of gold imbedded in the sale and even though the coins were NGC, the coins brought strong money. Friday are the less expensive coins, and many are super strong already in the pre-auction bidding. OUCH!
Friday night was just as strong. We left 30 bids-strong bids and won only 3 coins. Yet again, in the auction world coins prices are VERY strong.
This sale proved yet again the deep strength of the market.

We’re back to our same position that people should be selling dupes or taking profits if they are in lower grade generics. GEM Gold is still a buy-if you can find any. BUT we do NOT recommend things like PCGS MS66+ CAC Saints at $8,000.00. We saw that in an internet only sale recently. That was absolutely a one off.
