$1 1798 PCGS AU55 CAC WIDE DATE B-23 BB-105

$13,750.00

A coin like this we consider a VERY choice and totally original AU piece. This is a richly toned, totally original CHOICE AU early dollar. Soft original mint frost gleams from below the even layer of totally original dove, olive, russet, tan, and lilac accented hues—a classic look that is usually the result of decades of unmolested storage in an old envelope. Ms. Liberty’s hair and drapery, sharp stars, and the eagle details are strongly embossed. Mostly medium silver-gray patina with tan, russet, gold, and lilac accents (all original colors of course) . The planchet does have a tiny mint made flaw at the rim at 7:00 on the obverse and corresponding spot on the reverse. Over the years many of these coins have been “conserved” losing this wonderful original look. The eye appeal is clearly superior to what is normally seen in the market. PCGS 23, NGC 32, CAC 2 (possibly 6 unattributed).  We will fully disclose we paid $11,750.00 out of our July Regency Sale. We felt that was simply too cheap (we wait to see where bidding ends so as not to compete with our customers). The last PCGS CAC piece to sell in auction brought $14,100.00 08/2016. Before that we could not find ANY selling! Take our word on this, with LESS then 8 possibly beaned, you are certainly NOT going to see many offered. Bust Dollars are a very stable area to collect-something that has been more then proven over decades.
