The surfaces are incredibly clean and smooth. A bold unbroken bold luster beams from under a rich blend of totally original navy, slate, gold, and amber colors that are evenly spread all over. The details are fully struck.  There is no visible wear discolorations. In fact you need a glass to find the wear. The eye appeal is phenomenal! PCGS 9, NGC 13, CAC 4. This is the “Dallas Sale” specimen listed as #5 in Q. David Bowers’ Notable Specimens in the 2013 revision of his early dollar reference. It last sold for $18,800, graded NGC AU58 in the 2013 FUN auction. We can not stress enough this coins remarkable quality. There is no such thing as a finer 1802/1! Legend Numismatics did purchase this coin out of the DW Collection in our October Regency Sale. It sold for $19,380.00. We thought that was way too cheap. We must stress, this coin IS original and has not been messed with. That is RARE!
