$1 1803 SMALL 3 PCGS AU58+

$33,500.00

You know we always buy GEM AU Bust coins. This coin is a SUPER HIGH END GEM piece that we were told once resided in a NGC MS62 holder years ago (which obviously does not mean much). We’d bet in the old days someone would have sold this raw as an MS63. Calling this coin an AU58+ is dicey as we think it looks better (NO promises made). We looked it over and over and found only the slightest trace of rub-and we’re not even sure it is real rub vs light toning. The surfaces are pristine-even when using a strong glass. There are NO hidden old cuts or lines. The texture is actually sleek. A surprising luster beams from all over. Both sides are covered by a totally original mix of pale olive/peter/champagne/russet/pale green colors. This is NOT a dipped and retoned coin. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are very well struck. The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 15, NGC 4, CAC 2. PCGS has graded 3 in AU58+. It is our strong opinion, the services could have graded 100 of these, and LESS then 5% will ever be the real deal for the grade. We assure you, this coin IS the very real deal! It should be known that the last auction record for ANY PCGS AU58 (NO CAC) was back in 2002. That is 16 long years ago! Of course NO AU58+ have sold via auction. It should be noted the next grade with a bean is MS63 NGC that last sold for $117,500.00 (11/2013). The last PCGS (NO CAC) piece to sell brought $94,000.00 in 2006. Today, it would easily be a six figure coin. Because so few have traded, the prices guides are absolutely incorrect. We strongly believe our asking price is more then reasonable. You certainly are NOT going to see a similar coin offered anytime soon!
