$1 1864 PCGS MS64

$18,500.00

As many of you know, Legend Numismatics helped assemble the #1 all time MS Seated Dollar set ever with our partner Bruce Morelan. No other dealer today knows this series as well as we do. So we know what certain dates should look like. This coin is a terrific example of an 1864. We do consider it VERY HIGH END. Superior surfaces are just that-superior. Even using a strong glass all you can find are some very minor scuffs and a tick or two. Overall, the surfaces do appear smooth. A “satiny” type of flowing luster radiates from all over. Both sides have a band of original russet partially around the rims that open in to a creamy white/deeper golden surfaces. Miss Liberty and the details are so fully struck you do not need a glass to see her details. The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 6, NGC 6, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only 10 coins higher. Here is proof as to how difficult it is to find one of these: the last PCGS coin to sell in a major auction was back in 04/2008. That coin then brought $20,700.00. Even the last NGC coin sold in 2007. Because these coins are so rare and trade so infrequently, the pricing of them is just plain wrong. We know all MS Seated Dollars represent strong value today. This will be a great addition to any MS Seated, Type, or Civil War set. When is the last time you remember seeing a nice original piece like this offered?
