This is truly a marvelous GEM with a classic “old school” look. This awesome looking example of a Proof Only Trade dollar date, is totally original and a great exhibit of what these used to look like, before so many were ruined by conservation and doctoring. We do consider this piece to be of HIGH END quality!

Deep, watery reflective mirrored fields beam from all over. They are clean and clear, offering a bold clarity. The central obverse is mainly untoned, with just a touch of clear gold, which then blends to a deeper, amber-gold that mingles with brilliant cobalt-teal at the rims. The reverse is ensconced in a heavier blue and rose hue. This is NOT a dull or drab coin. The devices are sharply impressed by a forceful blow from the dies. The totally original eye appeal makes you think of the old days, when this is what a Proof Trade dollar looked like!

PCGS 58, NGC 70, CAC 15. It’s been over two years since a PCGS/CAC example has sold in auction. The current PCGS value is listed at $6,750. Here is a snapshot of how RARE CAC-approved coins are on the marketplace: Since 2008, just four have sold, the most recent selling for $5,640 in February 2017. This beauty is worthy of a GEM type set or specialized collection of Proof Trade dollars.
