This piece is light years beyond a typical 1881-S. Besides the technical quality, this coin has glorious color!
Remarkable surfaces reveal NO flaws even when being viewed by a strong glass. The texture is satiny, yet there are faint semi-prooflike mirrors on parts of the obverse. A full booming cartwheel type luster really makes the colors look on fire. Wonderful shades of sparkling original amber/gold/violet/blue/green blanket the obverse. The revers is mostly white. These are really pretty colors we do rank a 9 on our 1-10 color scale (10 is the best). Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and stand out. The eye appeal is gorgeous!
