$1 1891-S PCGS MS65+DMPL
Legend Numismatics was chosen years ago to buy the PL and DMPL sets from the Legendary Jack Lee’s collection by Jack Lee himself. Why? Because we are world class DMPL dealers-not like the wannabes from the West Coast who have no clue how deep a real DMPL should be. To this day, we search for great DMPL’s. When we find them, we’ll stretch to buy them. This is one of the most underrated Dates there is especially in GEM. We certainly do not recall ever seeing a better one!
Full 8″ mirrors are deep and really dazzle with bold reflection. The surfaces do have some tiny scattered ticks. Most important to know is common to ALL 91S DMPL’s, this coin does have light die polishing marks visible. These are Mint made and are no real negative to the grade or DMPL status. Basically, we are saying these do NOT come anywhere as nice as an 1880S does in DMPL. Regardless, this coin does have full contrast. There is some slight toning at 12:00. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and do have thick frost. The eye appeal is pleasing!
PCGS 3, NGC 7, CAC 1. PCGS has graded 2 in MS65+ DMPL-only this coin CAC. The last time this coin sold in auction it brought $20,750.00 08/2011. Its no secret where we purchased this coin from-we were prepared to pay much higher then what we did $17,500.00. We will not sell this coin for a quick flip. This coin is TREMENDOUSLY UNDERvalued. You can’t even find REAL or NICE MS64DMPL’s.
If you are a DMPL collector building a serious collection, this coin is a “must have”.
