$1 1900 LAFAYETTE PCGS MS66+

This is one of the better Lafayettes we have seen in some time. It sure looks like it has not been handled much at all the last 100 years!

We rank it SUPER HIGH END. Even in GEM grades, the luster is usually muted and the surfaces are toned in a dullish gray, silver hue. This magnificent Premium GEM is the exact opposite of what you normally see graded MS66. Ultra satiny mint luster blooms all over the smooth surfaces. We cannot stress enough the cleanliness of this coin. Clearly this wonderful coin sat in the original packaging, undisturbed for years, where it was able to acquire a layer of totally original rich, coppery-orange patina that blends with deep auburn, blue, gold, and dove hues that are spread all over. Every detail is sharply impressed from a strong, forceful blow from the dies. The eye appeal is exceptional in every way and is one you won’t forget!

PCGS 90, NGC 65, CAC 31. PCGS has graded 13 in MS66+ with only 5 higher. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell in auction brought $24,000.00 01/2010.
